How a five-reel line is counted
Lines, ways, wilds and scatters: a short guide to reading the paytables in the Reel Hall.
Four of the five games in the Reel Hall share a simple frame: five reels, three rows, and symbols that pay when they line up from the left. The paytable on each game page is written in multiples of the line stake, which is your stake divided by twenty.
Lines
Sunstone Temple, Glacier Gems and Koi Pagoda have twenty fixed lines. A line pays when the same symbol appears on reels one, two and three of that line, and pays more for four or five in a row. Only the highest result on each line counts, and all lines are added together.
Ways
Savanna Stampede has no lines. A symbol pays if it is anywhere on reel one and anywhere on each reel next to it. If it shows twice on a reel, every combination counts — that is where the name 243 ways comes from (three rows to the power of five reels).
Wilds and scatters
Wilds stand in for any symbol except the scatter, and only land on the middle three reels. Scatters pay wherever they are and three of them start the bonus round. The bonus differs from game to game: an expanding symbol, sticky wilds or multiplying wilds. Each game page explains its own.
What the numbers mean over time
Over many thousands of spins our five-reel games return roughly 94 to 97 per cent of the points staked. Over an evening the results swing far more than that, in both directions, and no pattern in past spins changes the next one.
